The coursework can be taken online or at an accredited institution. The main focus of the classes will be on the principles of the business, the practice of real estate, escrow, and finance. After an individual has passed the licensing exam depending on what state they reside in they may be required to submit to fingerprinting and a background check. Real estate licenses have to be renewed every 2 to 4 years which will force agents to do continued education and pay a fee for the renewal of the license. A majority of the real estate agents feel as if having a business degree or a marketing degree gives them a better advantage than those that do not.
